Reiki at the Kula
Ananda Kula is happy to offer Reiki in addition to our other modalities. Reiki serves as a great compliment to these modalities as it may integrate the healing that takes place during any of these sessions. When the body is relaxed and calm, healing begins to take place, empowering each individual to grow and progress as a human being. The healing energy of Reiki is universal and does not adhere to any specific belief or religious system. Healing is for everyone and Reiki does not discriminate.
Our Reiki master, Feather Hawk, works most specifically with the Chakra system sending healing light through each chakra in an attempt to create balance, spending a 5 minutes on each energy center from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet. The client can remain fully-clothed and is encouraged to close their eyes and sink into complete relaxation. Reiki treatments become a facilitated meditation in many cases. Following a session, one may feel a sense of elation and, in the coming days, certain emotions may come up seeking release. Feather Hawk may also use crystals and stones over the chakra centers to enhance the healing session. Stones and Crystals emit vibrations of healing light just as Reiki does.
Reiki in General
Reiki is a healing art utilizing Universal Light energy and a catalyst (in this case, the practitioner). The client receives direct healing energy from the source of Universal Light through the practitioner’s hands. Traditional Usui Reiki was developed in 1922 by a Japanese Buddhist named Mikao Usui after completing an extensive Buddhist training. His system involves the hands hovering over a person after connecting to the source. The hand positions fall in line with the seven Chakras, or energy centers in the body. A treatment starts at the crown of the head and ends at the root chakra near the feet. The Chakras spin like disks and, in some cases, do not spin properly, get stuck, or are otherwise operating erratically. The practitioner uses intuition and guidance from the source to tap into imbalances.
The Chakras are in line with the energy body (one of many sheaths that make up the human system), and can create ‘dis’-ease when not fully functional. For example, if the heart chakra, our center of compassion and love, is out of balance, one may experience sadness, depression, or grief. Reiki seeks to alleviate this issue offering healing light to the area, then through self-efficacy the client is given the power to heal themselves during and after a treatment.
